In this project cherry research is focusing on the following major themes: new varieties and rootstocks and crop intensification (rain shelters, irrigation, fertigation, …) which all fit in the strategy to modernize this sector. Parameters which are evaluated for the new varieties are yield, taste, harvesting time and sensitivity for cracking.
