In recent years, we saw that the shelf life of Conference was too short after long storage or when the pears arrived at their destination after a long transport. For such circumstances, there is a product available, called 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) which is used on the fruits after picking them. The product blocks the ripening which extends the shelf life of the pears. The first results learns us that the application in Conference is more complex than the application in Jonagold.
