Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) are studied to improve the uptake of water and phosphorous by newly planted apple trees. Moreover, it will be investigated whether the symbiosis of the tree with these fungi is reducing the hazardous effects of replant disease, caused by various fungi and nematodes. The aim of this project is to develop or select a new preparate, preferably selected from naturally present AMF species, which can be used for a dip treatment of the roots of apple trees just before planting.
