Evaluation of new apple and pear varieties

In 2017 98 new apple varieties and 55 new pear varieties were evaluated since the question ‘what should we plant?’ is still a critical decision on our fruit farms. In the second phase of the process, we evaluated varieties on their productivity, fruit size and taste, but also pollination, coloration, harvest time, pruning systems and sensitivity for frost and diseases are monitored. Attention is paid to the opportunities or constraints to produce new apple and pear varieties under a white hail net.
