Biocomes - New biological control products
The project resulted in the development of several new biological solutions for crop protection. Several target pest and pathogen species on various crops were in the scope of this project, but pcfruit’s major contribution was in the work package in which the biological control of aphids associated with stone fruit (figure 1) by parasitoids was investigated. In laboratory and field conditions (in Belgium as well as Spain) (figure 2), the parasitoid efficiency for biological aphid control, and the technical and commercial possibilities for mass production were evaluated and validated. In addition biological control agents for control against Monilinia brown rot in cherries were tested in orchards.
