Flemish Hardfruit Action Plan - Introduction of the Internet of Things in fruit planting

The use of data gathered by IoT applications in fruit producing companies to support management decisions is investigated. Two main cases are currently under research: On the one hand, the use of small-scale sensor networks in tunnels to assess the heterogeneity of the climate in a tunnel and assist growers in the decision to ventilate or not, or to administer a plant-protection agent or not. On the other hand, small-factor but independently operating weather stations are tested to support growers in the decision to re-treat the orchard or not after a rain event.
