Flemish Hardfruit Action Plan - Meta-study on improving apple quality

Production and sales of Flanders’ ‘Jonagold’ apple is diminishing in recent years. Within- and between field heterogeneity, along with mutant heterogeneity and (too) high yields are considered to be responsible for loss in quality of ‘Jonagold’ apples. However, a scientific longitudinal or meta study has never been performed to assess the loss in quality. In this project, such a study will be performed, and key growing factors are investigated for their influence on the fruit quality.
