Professor Albert Soenen Award

In 2012 the professor Albert Soenen foundation awards a prize of 2.500,00 € for an outstanding dissertation at Ph. D. level, which advances the understanding of fruit growing or has the potential to bring innovation to fruit production by research in the field of agriculture, biology, applied biological sciences, molecular biology and related domains.

Rules

1. The Professor Albert Soenen prize is awarded every three years.

2. The prize is open to candidates with a recent Ph.D. degree. The Ph.D. degree should have been obtained between September 1st 2009 and September 30th 2012.

Additional results, obtained during the same period as well as an update of results after obtaining the Ph.D. degree may be added (maximum 5 pages A4-size).

3. The candidates have to demonstrate that the conclusions of their thesis are applicable to fruit culture (maximum 2 pages A4-size).

4. The allowed languages of the dissertation are Dutch, French, English or German.

5. The prize is awarded by the management board of the foundation on advice of an independent jury of experts.

6. The prize is a personal award, but can be shared. If none of the submitted dissertations matches with the regulations or with the required scientific level, the prize will not be awarded.

7. The candidates must send 5 copies of their Ph.D. thesis, together with an update of their results (eventually), a statement on the importance of their research for fruit culture, their curriculum vitae and their list of publications to

8. The prize will be awarded in 2013.
